Mount Abu Winter Festival

Winter is thrill for the desert state of Rajashtan as people get respite from hot summers. For enjoying the winters at its best, Rajasthan organizes several fairs and festivals across the state. In Rajasthanfestive season in winters starts with the world famous Pushkar fair in November, in which thousands of people participate. Winter Festival of Mount Abu is another important festival of Rajasthan and celebrated in last week of December. Like previous years this year too, the festival was celebrated with great pomp and gaiety.

Thousands of people visit Mount Abu from various parts of the country to participate in the winter festival. During the festival a number of cultural and fun-filled events are organized. In fact, the festival provides a good opportunity to witness Rajasthan’s rich tribal life and culture. Artists from Rajasthan and states of Gujarat, Punjab and Haryana present their traditional dance performances here. Gair, Ghoomar and Daph are some of the famous folk dance forms presented by the artists. During the three day festival, the evening is made brighter by a display of dazzling fire works.

People also participate in the famous ceremony of Deepdaan and they float colourful diyas on the Nakki lake. One get mesmerized by the picturesque sight of series of lighted diyas floating across the lake. Water sports are other attractions of the winter festival. During the festival rowing competitions are organized on the Nakki lake.
